Renovator of properties in the UK, Rasim Ozrasim immigrated to Cyprus in 2002.
Cyprus brought new positive ideas, experiences and influences. With the focus to be independent in business, so started Rasim's project, renovating a derelict building in the centre of Girne. To do this he needed man power, along with a team of 4 Turks they took to start building what was later to be known as 'Cream'. As the renovation continued so did the ideas that came to opening a bar, a much needed loophole in the market especially in the unique way Rasim was to create it. Rasim's admiration for music had him developed a skill to mix and understand music, a talent to be part of the vision. How to work a bar and all it entailed was then thoroughly investigated through those of knowledge. With the continuing support of friends and loved ones, Rasim worked night and day to get this project a working reality. It involved trips abroad, co-ordinating and a great deal of patients in communicating with the less professional. Rasim's determination to make his print in Cyprus, his heritage, kept him focussed turning problems into solutions.
Development was in progress; new floors, walls, toilets, front grounds and drawing plans for the bar area, the vision was materialising. Everyone involved shared in his excitement and anticipation of opening.
The standard that Rasim was looking for was held in its name 'CREAM', this to him meant great music, feel good environment with an ambience to be remembered. Later Rasim was joined in this opinion by those who made 'Cream' their place to meet, socialise, dance or simply find friendship in its open environment. Rasim's European mind contributed very much to the great mix in crowd, it is said that people feel safe to be at 'Cream,' a woman turning up on her own to be in the company of the friendly staff is frequent. It's a non-intimidating environment.
'CREAM' a project that started in 2005 evolved to different stages, growing with the 'Cream Vision' getting more and more colourful.
From a bar seating 50 people 'Cream' then offered bar/kitchen, this was when the 'Cream Burger' and 'coleslaw' made its name along with a variety of choices off the 'Cream Menu.'
Cream then upgraded to suite growing popularity and the icing on the cake, to Cream it all came the open top terrace duplicating the downstairs with seating for 50 people, this time offering privacy for those who feel they would like to get away and be in a more serene environment.
Dj's have their nights and live singing has been known to happen spontaneously from our talented bar staff. Private parties and special occasions are often and a usual 'Cream night' will have you meeting the locals.
'CREAM' to this day is a well respected bar that contributes to putting Cyprus on the map. A great tourist and local hangout.
A lot of passion, enthusiasm and love has been put into its making.
With all this growth and expansion, question is, can we trust Rasim to stop developing? ...watch this space!
